The historic county of Conwy in North Wales will be the host for the 35th Men’s World Shore Angling Championships and the 26th Ladies World Shore Angling Championships.
As the main sponsor of FIPS-M, Tronixpro welcomes all competitors from around the globe to this magnificent event, held amongst the medieval grandeur of some of the world’s most famous castles and mythical legends.
The event is governed by FIPS-M, the world governing body of sea angling and hosted jointly by the Welsh Federation of Sea Anglers and Conwy County Council.
Wales welcomes 33 teams from around the world, including 21 national teams competing in the Men’s Championship and 12 competing in the Ladies Championship. Each team includes five members, one reserve and one Team Captain/Manager.
The event begins on Saturday 20th of October with the Opening Ceremony being held in the medieval town of Conwy, famous for its imposing castle built by Edward I of England, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The centre of the Championships will be Llandudno. Known as the Queen of Welsh Resorts, Llandudno is a picturesque Victorian town, the largest seaside resort in Wales. The closing ceremony will be held in the town at Venue Cymru, a popular venue for concerts and theatre productions.
There are six venues available, including both Llandudno North and West Shore, Colwyn Bay/Rhos on Sea, Penmaenmawr, Llanfairfechan and Abergele Pensarn. All venues are large, sandy/shingled beaches able to accommodate a large number of anglers, with dogfish, bull huss, whiting, rays and flatfish the likely species, there is also an outside chance of gurnards, codling and bass.
Each angler will be supplied with identical bait packs which will consist of frozen sandeel, mackerel and black lugworm. The scoring system used will be a conversion from length of fish to points, with all fish species recorded and measured by a steward.
We would like to wish all the competitors the very best of luck in the competition. We hope you have an enjoyable and successful time in Wales.
We will be posting the results from each day on our Facebook Page.
